As a Web Search Evaluator, you will determine user intent, compare Web pages, and then decide which page has the best relevance based upon the established scoring guidelines. This is a completely remote position, and all job duties are performed from home.
Web Search Evaluators are required to work 4 hours a day (Monday through Friday), and you can choose the hours you would like to work. According to the job posting, you are allowed to work 20-22 hours each week.
Technology Requirements: (quoted directly from the job posting)
- Personal Windows computer or laptop that runs Windows Vista or above
- A high-speed Internet connection
- Basic aptitude for installing applications, and troubleshooting and addressing software issues with limited support
I have personally worked for Appen (on a similar project), and I enjoyed the work. I was a Web Search Evaluator, and I earned $13.75 per hour. We were paid once the month (on the last working day of the month) via direct deposit.
Please note if you are hired for this position, you must keep an active anti-virus software program on your computer! As a Web Search Evaluator, you will visit many different Web pages on a daily basis, which means you may come in contact with a computer virus. Also, it is a good idea to have at least two reliable computers at home while working on this project (just in case one breaks down or becomes infected with a virus).
